Mommy and Me Time

Motherhood. For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to be right in the middle of it. When my daughters were born on a lovely spring day, all of a sudden I was not just a mother, but a twin mom. I went from manicures and pedicures to copious amounts of diapers and feedings around the clock. As you can imagine, I was happy but beyond exhausted!

The first night my twins were home, they slept snug in white wicker bassinets. My husband and I, as first time parents, had no idea of the path we were about to tread.

One of the girls has such a competitive streak that my mom is convinced this child will become a great athlete. Currently, she pushes herself in gymnastics, swim and soccer. Even at a week old, during tummy time she tried as hard as she could to lift her head up from the mat. Quite determined, she soon succeeded.

My other twin is a true observer of people. When in a new situation I can almost see the wheels in her head turning as she takes it all in. This child remembers everything. Once, as a young toddler, she pointed to the pattern on her her pajamas, so I told her it had paisleys on it. A few weeks later she gestured to my printed sheets and said “paisley!”

Keeping up with these two has been quite an adventure. Getting out to a spa isn’t as easy as it used to be, but I can still pamper myself a bit. Usually I do so at home. One of my favorite things is an avocado facial mask. It’s all natural, so the kids can join in with me. Such a fun activity for all!

Ah! There is nothing like staying at home, for real comfort.
